Callejón del Beso/Alley of the Kiss:
One of Guanajuato’s most famous little streets, the Callejón del Beso is known for its romantic (and tragic!) legend. Carmen fell in love with Luis, but their socioeconomic statuses forbade them from marrying. The narrow alley is lined with balconies so close together that, according to the tradition, couples can kiss from opposite sides. Today, they say that couples who kiss on the third step are supposed to receive seven years of happiness together.
